An Update on Hunahpu's Day 2021
The planning and execution of Hunahpu’s Day, our annual beer celebration and release of our mole-inspired Imperial Stout, has never been a proverbial walk in the park. From its humble origins as a small bottle release in our small brewery on Spruce Street, to its expansion into our parking lot and addition of guest taps from a few of our favorite brewers, to its most recent iteration involving nearly 200 breweries from around the world pouring their beers alongside our monolithic stout, each year has presented its challenges (let’s not even mention 2014). Whatever difficulties we’ve faced in previous years, we’ve always done everything we could to celebrate the release of Hunahpu’s with our friends and fans in the most epic way possible.
Since March, our Events and Marketing teams have played out multiple scenarios for Hunahpu’s Day 2021 based on changing local, state, national, and international circumstances. As of December 2020, we have had to acknowledge that considering constantly changing circumstances, we are not able to properly plan for a beer festival in March 2021. But not all is grey and gloomy in the world of Hunahpu’s…
In 2021 we’re going to bring the focus of Hunahpu’s Day back to the release of this beloved beer, which means that we will be releasing the 2021 version of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout in Tampa in March 2021, just as we have done for the last eleven years. The beer will be bottled alongside Bourbon Barrel-aged Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout, a rare variant that hasn’t been released since 2017.
Beer lovers who were lucky enough to win lottery access to Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout through the OZNR app will begin picking up their bottle allotments at the brewery on March 12th and can celebrate its release by enjoying rare variants of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout on draft. Vintage bottles of the sought-after beer and Hunahpu’s Day 2021 merchandise will also be available at the Spruce Street Taproom.
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for your understanding, your patience, and your support of Cigar City Brewing and Hunahpu’s Day. Beer has the power to bring people together and help make difficult situations a little easier to manager, and we cannot wait to share beer with our friends and fans on the other side of this craziness. Stay safe and be kind.More about the Hunahpu’s 2021 release
