About the Beer
In Mayan mythology, Hun Hunahpu was the father of the Mayan hero twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque. Hun Hunahpu, along with his brother Vucub Hunahpu, was tricked by the Dark Lords of the underworld and slain. As a result, Hun Hunahpu’s head was hung on a tree, which in typically awesome mythology fashion, spit upon the hand of a young maiden named Xquic who promptly became pregnant with the hero twins. The twins would ultimately grow up to avenge their father and uncle and defeat the Dark Lords and ascend the heavens to become the moon and sun. We brew Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout once a year and release it only at the brewery on the second weekend in March, and we will continue to do so until the end of the cycle.

Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout
Central to Mayan mythology is the story of twin brothers named Xbalanque and Hunahpu, the Hero Twins. After the Twins’ father was murdered by evil deities from Xibalba, his corpse became a cacao tree that spawned our two Heroes. Epic adventures followed, culminating in a journey to Xibalba to avenge their father’s death. Vanquishing their enemies handily, the Heroes then ascended unto the heavens where they became the sun and the moon. Hunahpu’s is a massive imperial stout with Cinnamon, Vanilla, Cacao and Ancho, Pasilla and Guajillo Chili Peppers. Bottles of Hunahpu’s are included with all Hunahpu’s Day tickets.

Alom’s Imperial Stout
This Imperial Stout has been brewed to honor Alom, the Mayan god of the sky and wood. Wood from the Spanish Cedar tree meets cinnamon, vanilla, cacao, and chili pepper additions to create a celestially inspired and wholly beatific Imperial Stout. Bottles of Alom’s are included with all 8- and 12-bottle Hunahpu’s Day tickets.

Xmucane’s Imperial Stout
Wise and cautious, the grandmother of Hunahpu lends her name to this monumental Imperial Stout brewed with hazelnuts and coffee which perfectly complement the cinnamon, vanilla, cacao, and chili peppers found in her grandson’s namesake beer. Bottles of Xmucane’s are only included with 12-bottle VIP Hunahpu’s Day tickets.
