Florida's Pink Boots Society Brews ‘You Should Smile More'

Cigar City Brewing is thrilled to announce the 2021 release of You Should Smile More, a collaborative Triple IPA brewed with the Florida chapter of the Pink Boots Society. This beer was designed and brewed by nearly a dozen female beer industry professionals from across Florida and is exclusively available in the Cigar City Brewing Spruce Street Taproom in Tampa.

This year’s You Should Smile More brew represents the third CCB beer brewed in collaboration with the Florida chapter of the Pink Boots Society, an organization that seeks to “assist, inspire, and encourage women beer professionals through education.” The organization and its local chapters have done great work in advocating for women in professional brewing and we’re excited to work with them on this project.

The recipe for this deceptively drinkable Triple IPA was developed by the Pink Boots folks, including CCB’s own Paloma Mejia and Hayley Whitman, and brewed by nearly a dozen members of the Pink Boots Society Florida Chapter. It utilizes the Pink Boots Hop Blend that consists of Cashmere, Ahtanum, Citra, Loral, and Sabro hops, creating a blend with tropical, herbal, citrus, and woody aromatic qualities.

“We wanted to brew a beer that represented women in the beer community and a triple IPA was just that, a strong beer that highlighted the different types of hops in the blend,” said Mejia, a brewer and cellar operator at CCB since 2018. “The Pink Boots Florida Chapter helps unite women in the community, giving us support and the tools for growth.”

The beer itself is strong, aromatic, and smooth on the palate, making it deceptively easy to drink. Lively aromas of mango, pineapple, and passionfruit are supported by caramel and honey aromas from this imposing beer’s malt profile. Freshly squeezed orange, tangerine, peach, and lime leaf flavors meet toffee-like sweetness and an assertive bitterness that brings the beer into balance.

The women of the Florida beer industry may be too busy brewing, cellaring, packaging, marketing, shipping, selling, and serving beer to smile for you, but we’re confident that the beer they’ve created will bring a smile to your face.
